The Way Forward
FDR and Barack Obama only share this unique historical perspective on taking the reigns when the carriage is half off the cliff and way off the reservation. Failing banks, general fear, and speculation from every direction driving to the economic peril appears at every turn. That fear and business gone to unbridled greed was the great depression for FDR and could become that again. The knowledge and speed of technology today will make our reactions more precise today. We can stop the problems on balance sheets. Our focus must involve the people and we just have to calm down everyone involved. Everyone involved in this crisis today is the population of our planet. We are a smaller place and have to overcome this fear and face reality. Greed has made our country poor stewards of money.
With a cool head and and a steady hand, we will make this a short lived crisis. Public works, infrastructure projects, education for all and continued education of workers to suit new and growing technology, a space race like green technology revolution, and health care we can all have and know will be there. My humble opinion is fortunately shared by more and more. We have to think our way our and hope for the day we work for each day. Inventing our way out of energy dependence will create an entirely new system of technology we have no real grasp on today. We know the fundamentals but the application is not incorporated in the education process. The old way through division and hate is warm and comfortable to some. We have to learn a new way with our renewed global hope for a better day.
Seize the day of hope. We are in a unique position to lead the way out and become the great beacon shining upon the hill as some have called us. The hope came with a rational and peaceful election of our President Elect, Barack Obama. He must take the mantle of power and lead the country in ways his predecessors could never have imagined. His tasks are not light in nature and he will age and get frustrated and stumble but he needs us as much as wee need him. Tell him what you want, call your elected officials! The technology is available to tell them every day as much as you want for little to no cost. Do what you feel is right!
Technology must be brought to bear in every aspect of healing this crisis, educating our people, and revolutionizing the world for a fossil fuel free future. Finite resources do demand a time line for their coming demise. Let us hold that reserve power that we need in fossil fuel and never have to tap it. Necessity is the mother of invention and all of us can contribute to the coming change. Do something, anything positive, and make “Yes WE can!” a motto for a new hopeful generation a reality taken for granted. I know you can. We have thrown off the rule off King George the “W”orst. I know beyond his tyranny that produced 2 wars, millions out of jobs, a society used to being spied upon, and a world that has now rejoiced in his coming absence. Hail to the coming Chief, President Obama!
