Coffee with Sarge Show Takes Holiday Break
The next 2 Sundays there will not be a live show because Jeff and I are going to take time off to enjoy the holidays. The show and Jeff’s show will return after New Year’s.
We wish all a happy holidays and you can watch this site as well as Jeff’s since both Jeff and I will be posting on things we feel we should discuss with you our wonderful supporters. Thanks and have a great holiday season.
Here is an email I read on the air from Monique that I would like to share here. I thinks she captures the idea of what is important in this Christmas Season.
I received many emails this morning on the war on Christmas so I sent this email out in reply today -
I’m going to step in here and remind everyone the real gift of Christmas and its meaning.
Yes, it is the birth of Jesus but the birth of Jesus goes beyond that. We were all given a gift from Jesus on Christmas and that was the gift of love and giving to each other. The gift of giving to each other is not the pricey gifts we give to our families but it is the love we give to each other no matter the status of each of us. We get caught up in gift giving, we get caught up in decorations, we get caught up in food treats and meals, but do wet get caught up in giving to those in need? So you say, these people who are on the streets or have nothing want it that way - so you really believe that Mary and Joseph wanted it that way? Hey guys, there is a real lesson in the first Christmas that we all forget. The first family had nothing, they had no place to go, they had no money, no credit cards, no computer, no phones including cell phones, no TV - THEY HAD NOTHING BUT EACH OTHER! They gave birth to this loving Jesus who watched out for the poor, the man who accepted everyone except those who were interested in the $$$’s. Jesus accepted the sinner. He accepted people who were different, he accepted people who sinned, he accepted the doubters - he just accepted everyone. Why can’t we do this today in our modern age?
We are so busy ripping each other apart! We forget the real meaning of Christmas - Christmas is every day of the year, not once a year. I really don’t give a ding dong of the person’s color, nationality, appearances etc. - it is what is within that person that counts. It is up to me a child of God to spread the love and caring throughout the year, not just at Christmas time.
Christmas for me is to remember what is the reason for the birth and carry this through the year.
This war on Christmas is truly stupid - why is there not a war on Christmas any other time of the year? Oh, we can only celebrate love once a year? We can only celebrate Christmas with lights and decorations? We can only have Angels in our homes during Christmas? No, war on Christmas is senseless………… let’s celebrate Christmas all year round - and get rid of the hate that is so dominant everywhere everyday.
I do celebrate the birth of Christ but hopefully celebrating throughout the year - that is the real meaning and purpose of Christmas.
By the way, those who think the poor want to be where they are at ——— try living in their shoes for a while. Let’s see if you are happy wearing those shoes. I’ve known a few homeless - that is not where they want to be but it is not that easy to pull yourself up by the bootstraps believe me.
I have only a few decorations - my Angels who are in my home throughout the year — I don’t need a tree or glittering lights to remind me of the birth of Jesus. I know his birthday - I know my birthday and others and I will celebrate in private with each.
Hopefully this makes sense but I think we all miss the point of Christmas
