The show will be of a special nature where callers are encouraged to call in on the topic of
What America is to Me and what I feel America should be.
What we are hoping for is to be able to get folks to tell what America is in their own lives today and how they hope it will be in the years to come. It has been pointed out for decades that America means different things to different people and not everyone has the same view of what is. Remember the First Lady saying she has never been as proud to be an American as she is now? The black people had to live like they were not part of the nation and yet today many feel they are finally true Americans since Obama won the Presidency. So we want to know what America is to you, but also it would be incomplete if we didn’t ask what you want to see America mean in the future.

Arizona’s Republican/Libertarian politicians in the legislature is making it look as if the government is going to shut down here in spite of the problems they should be addressing. Rebecca will talk about Education budget cuts in Arizona and the effects on higher education as well as all levels of education in Arizona.
Timothy is a new activist that has a facebook group which he started after he got concerned about things going on. He is a student at West Virginia University and will tell his story about what got him active.

Dr. Allan Cameron Retired Teacher will join us to discuss the serious education problems in Arizona and the nation. Recent events sees politicians and those in the administration of the education program, more interested in union busting and privatizing education. We will talk about it.

Chris Harris has joined MMAN as the Communications and Research Director. A Kansas native, Chris comes to Media Matters Action Network from the Kansas Democratic Party, where he served as Communications Director. Prior to working in his home state, Chris conducted research with Progressive Accountability (a joint project of MMAN and Center for American Progress Action Fund) during the 2008 cycle.
